Slot car has been a passionate hobby for many people for years now. This hobby has been popular with passionate racers ever since 1960’s. In fact during that era the slot cars became so popular that there were national televised programmes on slot car shows. It was a hobby and a passion with both collectors of electronic goods as well as car lovers. Top racing drivers of slot cars were celebrated on TV. Elvis Presley had a room at Grace land that was completely devoted towards slot cars racing. During the era there were more slot car racing facilities available than bowling alleys. This proves how much of a craze slot car racing was during that period of time. The American model racing company was purchased by the AMF. The AMF then renamed all the tracks and eventually closed them down or shifted them to the UK. They are still operational in some parts of the UK but there is not one track left in the United States to prove that this great sport of legend ever existed in the United States. This was mainly done because the AMF wanted to promote blowing over slot car racing. In the 1980’s New American slot car tracks were built in an attempt to rebuild the great empire. There were over 600 tracks built to promote the slot car racing. These tracks also contained many modern features like magnetic adjustments and innovative shape and design of the tracks. This has helped the slot car racing to come back from extinction.
